The rude passenger leaned back with a satisfied expression, clearly assuming we were about to be moved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, the flight attendant stood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She picked up the intercom phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And in a much quieter voice, she said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCaptain\u2026 I think you need to come out here. Right now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man across the aisle frowned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I looked at Mom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She seemed just as confused as I was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then the cockpit door opened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And when the captain stepped into the cabin and saw my mother, he stopped walking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His face changed completely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That was when I realized there was something about Mom\u2019s boarding pass she had never told me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
